Here’s another solar calculator from National Renewable Energy Laboratory called PVWatts Grid Data Calculator. This revised calculator uses monthly weather data and a PV performance model to estimate yearly energy production and cost savings on a typical crystalline silicon PV system installed.
This calculator is a little more geeky than others listed here so you’ll probably have to click the “help” links. After you choose a city you can click on “Explain This Result” and the view help page will hopefully help you understand the results:
