Need help! I want to succeed as a Solar installer.

As a contractor wanting to make money in the solar industry I am looking for help. Can anyone give me some advice on who can help me take the next step to becoming a solid solar installation company? Jimmy Ballast.

I’m a Cega Affiliate and yes, I’ve received financing for one of my residential projects putting up 14kW. I am new to this solar game but do appreciate the help I have got from CEGA

    Cheers friends!

it’s funny that some believe that Cega contractors “making it” would actually come to a Cega Presentation and try to sell other contractors to join. I mean, how would getting more contractors in this alliance benefit them? They’re making money in this, and you joining only means potentially less for them! Southern California isn’t that big after all….

I am looking for information on CEGA, They look like they can be a real help to my contracting business to get into the Solar revolution. I know I can not get be successful at this on my own with out a great deal of time and money building a solar company on my own. I have to take this next step I do not want to miss this boat. So anyone that has had an experience with them post some feedback. Thanks KW

I have been trying to get into the solar business for a couple of years now. I took some classes on installation, the actual installation seems the easy part. I have not been able to get a job mainly because I do not have any engineering experience and or design knowledge. I also found that I can not get the panels, I have no account set up with a solar supplier and have been quoted a price but it was to high a cost to me I would have to pay cash for the whole project upfront out of my pocket, so I could not compete with other bidders and make any money. Topping it all off I had no ability to get the project financed for the client. Does this CEGA have that ability?

I know solar is the only place to be in construction and I, like you do not want to miss “The Boat”.

I found some articles on CEGA and this alliance on the net, from what I read they seem to have a good idea that will help me get into the business of solar. Good luck to you….wait let me restate myself … luck will happen to everyone better to say Good Plan to your success! I may not of helped you but you may have helped me. I will check them out and report back. TK

Just came back from CEGA meeting today. Looks like from what I have seen and the comments on here I am going to take the plunge. I have many clients that are asking about solar and now that I have learned that CEGA can provide a leasing program this is like shooting fish in a barrel. Why not go solar, no cost out pocket and you get to tell the utility company to take a hike saving money right away. No Brainer!

All right guys, I am with CEGA and they are a great company to work with. They have the business savvy and they are continuously evolving and improving …. Quote of the day. “Go solar, don’t buy solar panels – buy solar electricity” :) ) R.

Do I need any special training to do solar? I have seen it going up, it does not seem complicated.
I am sick and tired of looking for jobs and taking them just to keep busy. 20 yrs in contracting and still struggling. I see others are talking about designing systems, do I need to go to school to learn this?
I have a great record as a contractor hope to learn quickly. Looking for better gig…JC

SD Contractor- Unless you are an engineer with ability to do CAD work and have a purchasing department to get your materials you are never going to make it in this business. Stick to whatever you were doing and hope for the building industry to turn around. I had seen panels being installed on a job site I was doing some work on and new I could do this stuff. The part that I did not know was how to design a system or find the materials or all the paper work to get my solar installs financed CEGA does all that for me they are my support and back office. I can focus on growing my business and make money by installing the system. I got involved with CEGA about a month ago and already have two projects that are under contract. I assume you are from San Diego so no threat to me I am up north so I would suggest you go to a meeting and see for yourself.

I know solar is the way to go, I m in this long-term and I know will pay of big. Cega is making a big progress on many fronts including solar lease and I am behind it. Best D.
