Solar Powered Flexible Threads

Ideal Star a Tokyo based company has invented a way to infuse threads with solar cells. The layers of the threads are coated so they claim there’s no need for expensive equipment to manufacture them.

They hope to eventually progress their solar threads to make flexible fabric that could be used as clothing or curtains. For this to happen they have to figure out a way to make the threads longer.

They have a 5 year view of this so this is drawing board technology right now.

Speaking of Solar Curtains, an architect by the name of Sheila Kennedy has come up with her own version of them. She envisions using them as part of a “soft house” that would incorporate these curtains as a way of using solar power to heat a home.

Additionally, back in 2005 a Swedish company invented their version of a solar curtain called an “Energy Curtain.”

It’s taking a long time but eventually we’ll be regularly incorporating solar powered technologies into homes as a standardized construction process.
