The CEGA affiliate contractor/blogger is right. I am also signed up with CEGA and I regret ever investing one penny or one second of time with them. The contractor/blogger is also right that Robert Williams lies. Nothing he told us in his first class has turned out to be true. Also I have learned that CEGA is broke so they are losing employees because they aren't getting paid.

Like the blogger who also invested in cega, I invested with them and I also submitted numerous solar jobs to them and they killed every possible chance I had to land those jobs. They either messed up the design or they gave a bunch of excuses as to why they couldn't get the jobs financed. When I asked if they have financed any projects, they couldn't give me any examples of any projects that they have ever financed.

Don't believe anything Robert Williams says. He's great at painting a good picture with no truth to back up any of what he claims. Don't invest with this con artist.

Unfortunately I signed up as an affiliate with CEGA 4 or 5 months ago. Now I wish I would have paid more attention to all the blogs online warning that they are a scam. All I know is that my partner and I have submitted numerous solar projects to them and they can't obtain financing for any of them. On top of that they make way too many mistakes on everything that we have submitted to them. I don't think that they know what they are doing. They talk a good game but when it comes time to perform... they can't back up anything they preach.

Do yourself a favor... don't give any money to CEGA. The guy who convinced us to invest our money is Robert Williams. He promised us that he had several projects that he would give to us after we signed up but CEGA hasn't given us any projects. My partner and I wasn't counting on them giving us projects but I never considered that they wouldn't be able to obtain financing for any of the projects that we brought to them.

Don't listen to any of Robert Williams lies and don't invest any of your money with him!!! I am sorry that I ever invested into CEGA or Robert Williams. CEGA is a SCAM!

Thanks very much for referring and linking to two articles of mine and I am glad that I have stimulated discussion on the subject. In the 2nd part of your article, you make some disparaging remarks about my opinions which I think deserve both clarification and some push back. You misinterpreted my suggestion that we live in smaller homes to imply that people should build new small homes instead of improving those that they already live in. I neither said nor implied this. Improving existing homes is, in almost all cases, more sustainable than building new ones, for exactly the reasons you stated. We are in agreement there. Your comments regarding my claims that energy efficiency measures saving more energy than solar panels can generate has also been misinterpreted, whether intentionally or not, to further your mission to sell more solar equipment. You might be surprised to learn that I am not against solar power, it is just that it needs to be considered in context of an entire project. The concept of efficiency first is critical and, in fact, most efficiency measures are significantly less costly to implement per kWh of savings than the cost of solar installations to match those savings. Beginning with behavior - simply turning things off, opening windows for natural cooling and heating when the weather is appropriate, to improving insulation and air sealing, and repairing and tuning up HVAC systems - any and all of these will save more money per dollar invested than solar PV. When PV is installed on otherwise large, inefficient, homes that are occupied by people who leave on electrical devices and run HVAC when unnecessary is a pitiful use of resources. Installing PV on homes that are efficient, modest in size, and efficiently managed is an appropriate use. It would however, reduce the size and frequency of sales of equipment. Your attitude is not too far from utility companies who neglect or fight efficiency measures because it will reduce their sale and ultimate profits from selling energy. Improved efficiency will do the same to solar power sales. Buck up and pay attention to the big picture. We are actually on the same side.

I am a contracor who went to the CEGA meeting, I was asked for 12,900$.My roofing sub-contractor told me he went 6 months ago and was asked for $15k.
I asked questions about bonding etc and they din't seem to know anything about it which makes me nervous. They gave me a list of 4 references for contractors, none of their licenses is more than 1-1/2 yrs old except for one who has a painting license only. At the meeting we were told you needed a B license. They also gave different phone numbers from the ones listed on the CSLB web site, I have not called to verify these references yet. Dont know if its a scam yet, they made a big fuss about a couple of web articles that could have been faked and kept talking about putting contractors back to work.

The previous post with the name of "anonymous" sounds like the guy who puts on those presentations. He is probably the one who posted that comment. "Anonymous" uses many of the same words as the guy in the presentation. The guy in the presentation came across as pushy and non trustworthy. If "Anonymous" is a real contractor and not the guy from CEGA posing as a real contractor, why doesn't he tell us the addresses of his projects? He says that he is already making money. If he is a real contractor, he should be able to elaborate by giving us an address so we can all drive by the building to see with our own two eyes. If he can't give us the address, that is just more proof that the CEGA guy is a scam artist.

I wasn't contacted by a woman but by some guy who was very nice. The guy sounded very convincing but when I did my follow up homework after attending the presentation, that is when I learned that these guys are a scam. They make you believe that they have lots of projects already but after I did some digging, I learned that they were all talk. I have known a few guys that have gone to their presentation in the past few months and each of my friends were told a story that couldn't be verified. I was given references by CEGA and none of their references gave them a good report. What bothered me was that they had no projects that I could verify with my own eyes.

My friends who had seen the presentation earlier in the year were asked to pay $11,600 but I was asked to pay $12,900. What makes no sense is if everything they preach were true, they could afford to finish the construction of their office. The floors and walls were unfinsihed. None of us were impressed by their office.

If they were a ligit operation, why can't anything that the guy says be verified? They claim to have millions of dollars in projects but when I asked for addresses, they couldn't give me any. None of my research makes me believe that they are being honest. I think that the only money they are making is from charging contractors a fee to become a member.

There are less expensive ways to get into the solar install business and companies who can back up what they say. This company screams SCAM!

I too got a call from a reprsentative of Cegalliance. I didn't have time to get any details because I was working. I'm gonna call the guy back because I said I would. I never deal with anybody unless they have references that can be verified. I'm a general contractor. I provide references to my potential customers when asked. In fact, the majority of my business is by referral.
There seems to be a lot of new businesses springing up out of the woodwork, lately. Just be aware "it's buyer beware" and "if it sounds too good to be true..........it probably is".
Anybody have any experiance with a company called Biz-Gov, short for Bisiness Thru Government?
I'd appreciate hearing about your experiance.

Anonymous - you say you are working with other contractors now who joined. Have you actually made any money after taking the class or gotten any jobs? What jobs? Please provide real detail so we can evaluate this. I don't understand what the purpose of this company is after hearing their sales pitch and seeing their website. Their projects look like photos off from the web. My opinion is this is not what it seems. Any body asking for money from me so that I can be part of their "NETWORK" sounds very fishy.
