Prince William County Creates ‘Checklist’ to Support Residential Solar Power Installations | WDVM25 and DCW50


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WDVM) – Prince William County provides assistance to residents who wish to install solar panels by creating an online checklist.

Beginning September 7, the Building Development Division of the County Development Services Department will provide support to homeowners through the “Electronic Residential Solar Power Systems Checklist,” which outlines the requirements. building permit and plan review for the installation of solar panels.

The new tool will provide interactions with plan designers and reviewers, which will speed up the overall process.
Wade Hugh, director of the county’s development services department, says the initiative is a step in creating a more sustainable Prince William County.

“It shows you the first step, how you submit a plan and walks you through the inspection process,” Hugh said. “We wanted… to make things as simple as possible to help homeowners install these systems – quickly and efficiently.
