Konarka Technologies Inc., the developer of Power Plastic, a material that converts light to energy, announced that it has obtained an exclusive license for a new family of photoactive polymers called polycarbazoles (PCZ). Senate Passes Tax Credits, Bill Moves Back to House
The Senate voted today by an overwhelming majority to extend the Production (PTC) and Investment Tax Credits (ITC). The tax measure was passed by a vote of 93-2. Now it goes back to the House to be approved later this week.

New NanoMarkets Report States Manufacturing Capacity for Thin-Film and Organic PV to Reach 29 GWp by 2015
Manufacturing capacity for thin-film and organic photovoltaics is expected to grow from approximately 2 GWp (Gigawatts at peak sunlight) this year to 29 GWp by 2015 according to a new report from NanoMarkets, an industry analyst firm based here. At the same time, the value of manufacturing equipment purchased by thin-film PV (TFPV) and organic PV (OPV) firms will grow from $450 million in 2008 to $4.8 billion in 2008. Konarka Technologies, Inc., an innovator in development and commercialization of Power Plastic®, a material that converts light to energy, today announced the company has obtained an exclusive license for a new family of photoactive polymers (polycarbazoles – PCZ) developed by Professor Mario Leclerc, director of the Macromolecular Science and Engineering Research Center of Universite Laval (CERSIM) and director of the Quebec Center on Functional Materials (CQMF).
