“The Beauty of the Natural World Through My Lens” featuring photography by member artist Scott Dorman is on display at the art center.

“I heard our intrepid gallery director, Lars Sage, comment at the opening: ‘Don’t get too close to these photographs, or you’ll feel the heat!’ He was right. The dazzling glow of lava flows against darkest of dark skies…contrasted with warm sunlight illuminating a hummingbird approaching its lunch awaiting it in a blazing flower. The Milky Way…radiant and alluring in the dark of night…hangs near of a brilliant sunset peeking over a steep mountain rock cut, teasing us with its last rays of day.Scott allows us to cool off a bit in cool mountain lakes and depths that only reflect the flickering light of the sun.

“This is an exciting and beautiful exhibition of photography, sponsored by Karen Dick and Pauline Bustamante. Be sure to see it for yourself. It runs until August 23, alongside so many wonderful works of art created by our Art Center artists. And there’s even an “overstock” sale in the conservatory, filled with sale items to browse.

Featured founding member

With wood art by John Lynch

To help us celebrate our 35th anniversary, we asked the six founding artists who still live in Estes Park to exhibit their artwork in the gallery throughout the year in small “flagship exhibitions”. John Lynch is the third founding artist, displaying his beautiful woodworking creations. For years, John’s delightful work has inspired respect and admiration. Whether influenced by Native American, Irish/Celtic, or Asian cultures, John Lynch’s cabinetmaking is an eclectic blend of superior skill and taste that is cherished as a timeless classic.

Also on display in the gallery are the exceptional works of other artists who are members of the Art Center, including other works in oil painting, watercolour, pastel, jewellery, ceramics, charcoal, graphite, glass, wood, sculpture, fiber, photography, printmaking and mixed media.

The Art Center is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Looking for students for the Art Center Mentorship Program

This is an exciting and popular Art Center program and an important way for Art Center artists to share their passion for the arts directly with members of the community.

Mentors are matched with mentees, of all ages, who want to learn a new medium and have the chance to work with an experienced artist who exhibits their work in our beautiful professional gallery.

The annual Mentor/Student exhibition in February is the highlight of the year, giving mentees the opportunity to see their own creations on display in the Art Center Gallery and learn something about the “business of art”. ‘art’ (appropriate framing, price, reception of the public, etc.) along the way.

Door prize winner

Congratulations to Cecilia Stumpf who is the winner of the door prize offered by Scott Dorman
