Assam: Non-profit organization – “Art Of Living” strives to light up remote places with solar lights


The Art of Living – a non-profit organization working to empower the economically disadvantaged through best practices and eco-friendly methods used solar energy technology to electrify remote locations in Assam.

In line with his pledge, solar lamps worth 1 crore were donated to the government of Assam, with the aim of providing light to homes along the remote areas of the northeastern state.

These lamps have been graciously accepted by the Chief Minister of Assam – Himanta Biswa Sarma for further distribution among the local authorities in these places.

It was presented to the CM of Assam, during the recently concluded “Chintan Shivir” in Kaziranga of Assam – a brainstorming session for Ministers, Legislators and senior officials from the North Eastern State ; to deliberate on various matters of state and determine a future course of action.

Taking to Twitter, the official account of the spiritual leader and envoy for peace – Sri Sri Ravi Shankar wrote, “On the 18th of this month, solar lamps worth 1 Crore were donated by the @The art of living to light up homes in remote areas of Assam. The deputy. CM @himantabiswa very graciously agreed to have them distributed.
