Fourth Friday art walks begin in Belfast city center on July 22

BELFAST – Our Town Belfast announces that Friday July 22 is the first Fourth Friday Art Walk of the 2022 season. Several galleries will open their doors from 4pm to 7pm, welcoming the public to learn more about their work and creative process. It is also an opportunity to hear about the workshop opportunities offered by many artists.

From downtown, at the intersection of Main and High streets, visit the Parent Fine Art Gallery. Here you can admire oil paintings by owner Joanne Parent, photographs by her father, Neal Parent, and a variety of other star artists. Then, around the corner on the High Street, you’ll find Studio K presented by painter, draftsman, designer and color theorist Kris Engman. Cross the High Street to visit the 13 artists featured in the Local Color Gallery. The work of these artists includes, but is not limited to, oil and acrylic paintings, printmaking, solar photography, chine colle, encaustic, and watercolor. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet and hear July/August guest artists Liz Prescott and Marli Thibodeau.

Leaving the Local Color Gallery, return to the fire and listen to the music of the Belfast Bay Fiddlers until 6 p.m. Just after playing the music, you’ll find a yellow flag marking Sheep Jones’ second-floor gallery with several rooms displaying his oil paintings. Your next stop on the High Street will be at Belfast Fiber Arts to experience the beauty and feel of fiber arts and learn about the variety of workshops they offer. You can then visit Susan Tobey White a few doors down the hall to see her vibrant collection of fine art paintings.

From there, continue along the High Street to find Waterfall Arts and the closing night of ‘The Embrace’ with Karen Olson. You’ll also see a glassblowing demonstration by guest artist Clint Burbridge. Be sure not to miss Mainely Gallery and Studio on Searsport Avenue. Here, you can see the work of over 40 artists, learn about the variety of classes they offer, and even enjoy something from their cafe.

Many retail stores and restaurants will also be open during art walk hours. Visit Belfast City Center again on Friday 26th August and Friday 23rd September for more Fourth Friday art walks.
