IONOS, one of the largest hosting service providers in Europe, and Fasthosts, its UK subsidiary, have opened a state-of-the-art data center located at Worcester Six Business Park. The data center was officially inaugurated during an event on October 18, 2022, organized by the two companies in the presence of local actors and guests.
The 43,708 square foot unit includes a 30,729 square foot state-of-the-art data center and 12,978 square feet of ancillary office space.
The data center represents a £21 million investment in the local Worcester community. It was designed using a modular approach, with each module of the site being completely independent and, technically speaking, a data center in its own right. This offers the possibility of expansion with three additional modules to support future growth.
Sustainability is at the forefront of the data center, with a wide range of sustainable and energy-efficient features, including photovoltaic solar panels covering up to 10% of the site’s energy consumption. All the necessary carbon used for the construction of the building envelope has been offset.
Designed and built to a Tier IV standard, the data center is connected to the UK’s fiber 8 middle, linking the site directly to the IONOS backbone network with an outdoor capacity of 3,000 Gigabits per second. This strong fiber optic connectivity will help harness the latest technologies in the region to support business growth, while operating in a secure and sustainable manner.
