MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Middleton Sustainability Committee (MSC) will host an event to celebrate and educate about clean solar power on July 10.
The event is called Solarbration and will be held from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Lakeview Park in Middleton, according to MSC. This is to celebrate a recent municipal solar power installation in Middleton at the Lakeview Shelter.
“We want area residents to celebrate with other good neighbors not only the progress the Town of Middleton has made in fighting climate change through clean energy, but to be excited about what we can do yet,” explained Kermit Hovey, Vice President of the MSC, “increasing support and adoption of solar power while raising awareness of the need for clean energy is an important way to make a difference.”
Entrepreneurs and experts in the field of solar energy will be present to answer questions on how to add solar energy to homes, according to MSC. In addition to this, several city leaders, including Mayor Gurdip Brar, Alders and new MSC President Kristy Pulvermacher, will speak about Middleton’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.
There will also be a number of kid-friendly activities including face painting, temporary tattoos, button making, solar energy demonstration and art activities.
Food will also be available for purchase from a local business, Justveggiez, a vegan restaurant.
Entrants will also have the opportunity to enter free drawings for books and other prizes, according to MSC.
